Facilities and/or Laboratories
Several facilities are available to the PhD Programme in Labour, Development and Innovation at the premises of the Marco Biagi Department of Economics and the Marco Biagi Foundation.
At the Marco Biagi Department of Economics, two offices are available, one in the east wing and one in the west wing, each equipped with 4 workstations, as well as 2 computer laboratories with 78 workstations.
The library, temporarily unavailable due to renovation works, provides network access via personal laptops and has 14 PC workstations.
Several self-service photocopiers are also available along the corridors of the two wings.
The Marco Biagi Foundation provides several workstations at its premises for individual research and group work, as well as teaching activities: 2 offices equipped with desks (up to 4 workstations) and cabinets; a shared “Open Space” equipped with tables or, when arranged for seminars, with tablet-arm chairs for up to 70 participants; and a room exclusively reserved for PhD students, which can be configured as required and can accommodate up to 16 users. The room is also equipped with a teaching workstation connected to a video projector.
The Foundation also provides 3 teaching rooms with a total of 100 power-equipped workstations, featuring technical equipment including laptops, video projectors, fixed whiteboards and flip charts, and an audio amplification system.
Both locations are equipped with the main software packages used for quantitative research in the social sciences, economics and statistics.
Library Resources
The Library of the Marco Biagi Department of Economics holds approximately 130,000 print monographs, thousands of e-books, 80,000 journal volumes, and provides access to approximately 200,000 e-journals.
It also provides access to economic and statistical databases, as well as to all databases available through the University network.
The Library also holds approximately 500 journals in print subscription and provides access to all electronic journals available through the University network (approximately 15,000).
The Marco Biagi Foundation Library complements the Department’s library collections, with a specialised focus on labour law and industrial relations and a particular emphasis on works published in English. It provides additional subscriptions to national and international journals, selected primarily to cover the fields of labour law and industrial relations and, to a lesser extent, work organisation.
E-resources
The University Library System provides all users of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia with access to a portal offering a wide range of subscribed databases and electronic journals, which can be searched to access abstracts, citations, indexes and full-text documents, as well as freely available electronic resources on the web.
These databases include AIDA, Bloomberg, IvyDB Europe and others, as well as legal databases such as DEJure, HeinOnline, etc.
UNIMORE’s electronic resources can also be accessed remotely via VPN.
Both locations provide PhD students with internet access through the EDUROAM Wi-Fi network.
