Who can apply?

The competition is open to any candidate, regardless of age or nationality, who as of October 31, 2023, holds an Italian degree obtained prior to D.M. 509/99 or an Italian second level degree (laurea specialistica, under D.M. 509/99 or laurea magistrale, under D.M. 207/04), or an equivalent academic qualification from a foreign University, that has to be validated by the Selection Committee, following the legislation in force both in Italy and in the Country where the qualification was issued and within the international treaties or agreements on the recognition of international qualifications, in the case where degrees in specific subjects are required for admittance to the Programme.

Selection

The selection procedure consists of an assessment of the candidate’s qualifications and an interview

Applications: July 27, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. (italian time)
Enrolments: to be completed within 7 days of the publication of the results of the selection procedure

Number of places available

•  Places with scholarship: 9 without specific topic (of which 7 by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, 1 by Modena Foundation (“Fondazione di Modena”), 1 by external public and private institutions)

The funder of the external grant is:

Emilia-Romagna Region with the topic ‘An integrated and participatory approach to occupational safety and environmental risk prevention: actors, tools and practices’. Research area: Health and safety, environment, disability, work and care

In the academic year 2023/2024 (XXXIX cycle) priority will be given to the research strands listed on the dedicated web page


•  1* Place with topic “Gender budgeting and gender impact of public policies. Theoretical foundations, expenditure reclassification methodologies and applications to the State Budget” .
With intership within the Ministry of Economy and Finance  

•  1* Place with topic “The digital transition of judicial offices: redesigning and simplifying organisational models through the adoption of enabling digital technologies and solutions” .
With an intership in the “Modena Court of Law”

•  1* Place with topic “Attractiveness of supply chains and territories: comparison between regional policies and the European level”.
With internship within the Emilia Romagna Region

•  1* Place with topic “The ex ante and ex post evaluation of public policies in relation to the Data Valley”.
With internship within the Emilia Romagna Region

•  1* Place with topic “The impact of policies on ecological transition and regional society”.
With internship within the Emilia Romagna Region

•  Places without scholarship: not planned for this academic year


The amount of each bursary is € 16.243,00 per annum, and the amount may be increased by 50% for periods of study abroad, except in the student’s country of residence. In order to take a period of study abroad, students are required to apply for permission to the Doctoral Research Council

EXAM SCHEDULE – MAIN SELECTION
In-person interview: September 4th 2023, 10:00 a.m.
Interviews could continue on September 5th 2023, 9:00 a.m., should there be a high number of candidates.
The examination will take place in Lecture Room of the Marco Biagi Foundation, Largo Marco Biagi 10, Modena.
Interview via Microsoft Team (allowed for each candidate, regardless of residence): September 5th 2023, 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

EXAM SCHEDULE – SELECTION PROCEDURES 2, 3, 4, 5 AND 6
In-person interview: September 5th 2023, 12:00 a.m.
